Tour Overview

A very special Western Front tour timed to be in the heart of the Somme for the ANZAC Day Commemorations. We start with two days in Paris and then, enroute to Ypres, we visit the critical sights of the Adelaide Cemetery (site of the exhumation of Australia's Unknown Soldier in November 1993) and the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux. We do so early in our tour itinerary to ensure you get to visit and pay your respects here ahead of the day of the Dawn Service and the crowds that will descend on these moving sites. We then spend four nights in the heart of the wonderful gothic city of Ypres, where we enjoy visits to the cobbled stoned streets of picture perfect Bruges, the moving cemeteries and fields of Flanders, and we attend the moving 'Last Post' under the Menin Gate in Ypres.

Returning to the Somme we stay three more nights in the centre of Amiens - a perfect location to explore the area and attend all the ANZAC Day services and commemorations. ANZAC Day will be special! A ceremony with military uniforms, slouch-hats, Ambassadors and dignitaries, army bands, national anthems, the Last Post, crowds of visitors as well as the local population of this small French village which will "never forget Australia".

The presence of our expert War Historian, working alongside our specially selected Western Front Tour Manager, will add so much depth to the tour and ensure you have a tremendously fulfilling experience. Together you will retrace the steps of the 'Diggers' throughout the Allied battles of the Western Front and the staggering devastation of the trench warfare of the Somme and Flanders battlefields.
