Tania says...
“Tranquil Portofino is picture-perfect – enjoy a stroll around the pretty harbour…sit and watch the boats go by…or wander up to the castle, with its beautiful gardens, from where you will enjoy spectacular views.”
Day 1 Arrival
This afternoon, we arrive in Viareggio and have time to settle into our hotel prior to dinner this evening.

Day 2 Cinque Terre 125km/78 mile round trip
Today, we travel to La Spezia and enter the wonderful and colourful world of Le Cinque Terre, the ‘Five Lands’. These quaint and incredibly scenic fishing villages can really only be visited by boat or train owing to their location on the rugged coastline of the Mediterranean. Explore pretty Riomaggiore on foot and then take the local train to Monterosso, a sumptuous village where we have time to browse the shops and enjoy a seafood lunch before a local ferry whisks us back along the coast affording us superb views of all five villages with their mountainous backdrop.

Day 3 Viareggio or Florence Driver’s Day Off
Once a fishing village, Viareggio is now a thriving resort with a long beachside promenade and shops, providing us with plenty to explore at our leisure today. If we prefer, we can take the train to the centre of Florence (1 hour 14 min.) and discover Michelangelo’s world famous sculpture of David, the 15th century Duomo di Firenze, the Uffizi Gallery and the Medieval Ponte Vecchio.

Day 4 Lucca & Pisa 75km/47 mile round trip
After breakfast we make our way to Lucca, one of the oldest cities in Tuscany. It is home to a maze of narrow cobbled streets, beautiful churches, chapels and its unique oval square, the perfect place to relax with a cappuccino. Why not enjoy a lunch at the fabulous Trattoria Buralli? In the afternoon we return to Viareggio via Pisa, best known for its famous leaning tower. Pisa also has a remarkable cathedral, well-maintained Romanesque buildings as well as Renaissance piazzas with a lively street life dominated by locals rather than tourists.

Day 5 Santa Margherita & Portofino 239km/148 mile round trip
Today, we will visit the most fashionable and stylish resorts of the Italian Riviera! We travel to the attractive palm lined resort of Santa Margherita and, from here, we enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the coast, around the headland and into the chic and famous village of Portofino.

Day 6 Departure
After breakfast, it is time to begin our journey home.
