Day 1 Arrival
This afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel and settle in before dinner this evening.

Day 2 Ring of Kerry & Skellig Experience 108 mile round trip
After breakfast we begin our journey around the mystical and unspoilt region of Ireland known as the ‘Ring of Kerry’, one of the most spectacular circular driving routes in all of Ireland. This beautiful tourist trail around the Inveragh Peninsula runs between Killorglin and Kenmare and features traditional villages where time has stood still, emerald green fields criss-crossed with dry stone walls and jaw-dropping scenery. The drive provides us with an insight into the area’s ancient heritage and allows us to marvel at the fantastic views, especially on the coastal stretch between Waterville and Caherdaniel. We will stop at the elegant seaside town of Kenmare, one of the few planned towns in Ireland, so that we can explore the neat triangle of streets and wander around the quaint brightly painted shops and galleries.

Half way round, we also visit the Skellig Experience Visitor Centre which tells the culture and history of the four off-shore Skellig islands, now made even more famous for being a filming location of the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. Their story is told through four themes – the history and archaeology of Skellig Michaels early Christian monastery, the sea birds, the lighthouses and underwater Skellig. We enjoy time here with the option of having lunch in the centre’s restaurant before continuing our tour.

Day 3 Ross Castle, Lough Leane, Killarney & Gaelic Roots Live Show Driver’s Day Off
Today we will be met at our hotel by the famous Killarney Jaunting Cars and embark on a 1 hour tour of Killarney National Park that will culminate in our arrival at Ross Castle. We will then embark on a 1 hour cruise of Lough Leane aboard The Lily of Killarney. We will see the monastic ruins of Inisfallen Island and the beautiful O’Sullivan’s Cascade whilst admiring the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and Killarney countryside.

We will return to Killarney by jaunting car for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure before we get ready for the highlight of our holiday – the Gaelic Roots Live Show, which takes place just a short stroll from our hotel. We will be taken on a magical journey through Irish culture and traditions with Irish music, song and dance. Captivating from the very beginning, the show continuously delights until we are treated to an amazing finale!

Day 4 Muckross House and Traditional Farms 8 mile round trip
This morning, we will travel to the centre of Killarney National Park and visit the magnificent Victorian mansion, Muckross House. Queen Victoria famously stayed at Muckross House in 1861, during her first visit to Country Kerry and we will have the chance to see the Queen’s bedroom. Elaborate preparations were carried out at Muckross for the Royal visit: tapestries, mirrors, Persian carpets, silverware, musical instruments, linen, china and servants' uniforms are all said to have been specially commissioned for the occasion. The curtains, which still hang in the dining room were specially woven for the occasion. The elegantly furnished family rooms on the upper floors and the Spartan servants’ quarters in the basement provide an accurate ‘upstairs/downstairs’ picture of life in the house from over 150 years ago. Meanwhile, the gardens are renowned for their beauty and are especially known for the fine collection of azaleas, rhododendrons, extensive water garden and limestone rock garden. A number of skilled craft workers demonstrate traditional skills such as weaving, bookbinding and pottery in the walled garden centre. We will also visit the Muckross Traditional Farms, a living museum that depicts life during the 1930s for the farming community. We can meet and chat with the farmers and their wives as they go about their daily work in the houses and on the farm.

Day 5 Departure
Today, we say a fond farewell to our hotel and begin our journey home.
