This morning we leave our local area and make our way to Heysham where we catch theferry across to Douglas. After a short journey from the ferry port we arrive at our hotel and have time to settle in prior to dinner.

Day 2 Douglas
Today we have a free day in Douglas to explore the capital. We could take a nostalgic journey along the Douglas promenade on the world’s oldest horse drawn tramway.  Alternatively, visit the Manx Museum and National Art Gallery or take a pleasure cruise around the harbour.

Day 3 Manx Electric Railway & Snaefell Mountain Railway 33 mile round trip
After breakfast we enjoy a journey on the Manx Electric railway, the longest narrow gauge vintage electric railway system in Britain. Beginning in Douglas we take in the magnificent ocean views of the east coast of the Island before we disembark in at the village of Laxey, home of the Great Laxey Wheel, the largest working waterwheel in the world. Otherwise known as 'Lady Isabella', the wheel was built in 1854 to pump water from Laxey's lead and zinc mines.

Here there is free time to explore Laxey and have lunch before we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway. Fingers crossed when we reach the summit it’s a clear day so we can see some of Seven Kingdoms! We then travel to Ramsey, the second largest town on the island before we return to our hotel driving along some of the roads which are part of the famous TT course.

Day 4 Steam Railway, Port Erin & The Sound and Calf of Man Visitor Centre 30 mile round trip
Today we visit the south of the Island and depart Douglas on the Isle of Man Steam Railway where we take the 1 hour journey to Port Erin travelling through the Manx countryside and enjoying the grandeur of a Victorian railway.

On arrival in Port Erin there will be free time to explore the Railway Museum, charting the history of the steam powered railway from 1873 to the present day.  Inside we will find steam engines and carriages including the royal carriages which have carried The Queen and Queen Mother. We then board our coach for afternoon scenic coastal drive to The Sound and Calf of Man Visitor Centre, here we can we can enjoy lunch (group lunches can be pre-booked at an additional charge) at one of the most picturesque points in the south of the Island.
