Remarkable Rhine Valley

Our three featured hotels enjoy beautiful riverside locations in the heart of the Rhine Valley and each provide a marvellous base for discovering the rich heritage, stunning views and wonderful vintages of Germany’s most famous wine region. They are also perfectly located for the spectacular Rhine in Flames and Rhine Riverlights festivals!

Boppard
With its excellent promenade and panoramic views of the river on one side and the Hunsrück hills on the other, Boppard has many interesting attractions, including its Roman Fort, 12th century St Severus Church, 14th century Carmelite Church, the baroque Church of St Pankratius, the Provestry in Hirzenach and, in the town centre, the Electoral Castle of Boppard.

Cochem and the Moselle Valley
The picturesque village of Cochem is a great visit with its half-timbered houses and its beautiful medieval castle, Schloss Reichsburg. There is also an early 19th century mustard mill (Senfmühle), the last of its kind in Europe, which is still operational: the perfect place to purchase exceptional gourmet mustards as gifts for friends or family at home (or for yourself, of course!).

Koblenz
Visit the ancient city of Koblenz, positioned at the junction between the Moselle and Rhine rivers. Castles, palaces, fortresses and towers provide a remarkable vision of a city that has seen more than its fair share of invasions and conquests.

Rüdesheim
The uniquely beautiful town of Rüdesheim is located on the banks of the Rhine. There is a cable car up to The Niederwald Memorial with amazing views over the old town. No trip to Rüdesheim would be complete without sampling a glass of wine in the famous Drosselgasse in the heart of of the old town. Siegfried’s Music Museum is also a unique attraction with 350 self-playing instruments.

St Goar
Famous for its enchanting houses, giant cuckoo clock and Steiff teddy bear shops St Goar is a great visit. In the market place there is a road train offering a relaxing trip to the Fortress Rheinfels, one of the largest fortress ruins in Germany.

Trier and the Moselle Valley
In Germany’s oldest city, Trier, you can discover the Roman gate, Porta Nigra, and the 4th century Roman Basilica, believed to have been the Emperor Constantine’s throne room. We may also choose to visit the Roman Imperial Baths, the cathedral or the Trier Archaeological Museum during our time here. A guided tour is a great addition if you are planning a trip to Trier.

‘Rhine in Flames’ Festival
‘Rhine in Flames’ is a spectacular fireworks festival that takes place along the most scenic stretches of the Rhine valley on 5 separate Saturdays each year between May and September. From Rüdesheim to Bonn, spectacular firework displays and curtains of fire saturate the riverbanks and landmarks in a stunning red glow, and a flotilla of illuminated boats sail along the Rhine, complementing the artistic lighting display that dances across a romantic Rhine riverscape. Your customers will certainly be treated to an unforgettable visual and cultural experience.

Ask our Sales Team if you wish to combine a stay at our Boppard hotels with any of the Rhine in Flames events taking place in Rüdesheim (July 2018), Oberwesel (September 2018) and St Goar & St Goarhausen (September 2018).

Rhine Riverlights Festival
Towns along the Rhine and Moselle rivers celebrate their annual wine festivals in September and October. The harvest is over and it’s time to try the fermented, freshly pressed white and red grape juice, called Federweisser, which is traditionally matched with Zwiebelkuchen, a delicious type of onion tart. Indisputable highlights are the fireworks at night. Join in the celebrations on land or take a boat cruise and discover the heart & soul of this special region of Germany.

Ask our Sales Team if you wish to combine a stay at our Rhine hotels with any of the Riverlights events taking place on various Saturdays in September and October 2018.
