Riviera of Flowers

The Italian Riviera, or the ‘Riviera of Flowers’ offers many vistas, from the green hills of the inland valleys to historic hilltop villages and beautiful sandy beaches. Our hotels are located near the French/Italian border, making them an ideal base for a day trip to Monaco. Due to the mild climate this destination can be featured throughout the year.

Grant says...
“Hotel Bergamo is the place to sell in the peak season for the Italian Riviera! There is lots to do touring-wise from here, but also a driver’s day off is absolutely fine with shops and cafés just a walk along the promenade.”

Sue says...
“In a prime location, this traditional yet elegant seaside hotel has all you would imagine for a stay on the Italian Riviera. The Palace Hotel surprised me in a really good way – the location is amazing and the bedrooms are stunning!”

Paul says...
“The Hotel Torino has an excellent location, close to all amenities, and offers top class service.
Day 1 Arrival
We will arrive at our hotel later this afternoon and have time to settle in prior to dinner this evening.

Day 2 Eze & Monaco 170km/106 mile round trip
This morning, we will make our way to the village of Eze and the Fragonard perfume factory where we will enjoy a free guided tour of its modern laboratories and workshops, discovering the trade secrets of how its perfumes, soaps and cosmetics are produced. We can enjoy lunch in Eze before continuing to Monaco where we can spend time exploring the old town area with its medieval narrow alleyways and historic buildings and museums. Here we can visit the spectacular Prince’s Palace, where we can discover its many splendours (please note, access to the State Apartments is by stairs only and is not wheelchair accessible).

Day 3 Diano Marina Driver’s Day Off
Today, we can spend the day relaxing by the pool or strolling along the lovely sandy beach near our hotel.

Day 4 Alassio & Cervo 32km/20 mile round trip
This morning, we will visit the vibrant resort of Alassio. Having been popular with British Victorian holidaymakers, the resort is full of expatriate heritage, including an English language library which is one of the oldest in Italy. We can enjoy wandering around the Budello di Alassio, where the history of the town can be most appreciated, with its numerous shops, churches and piazzas and stroll along its impressive, sandy beach – one of the best in Italy! In the afternoon, we make our way back to our hotel via the ancient hilltop village of Cervo (if steps and steep inclines are not an issue) classed as one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy”.

Day 5 Ventimiglia & San Remo 130km/81 mile round trip
After breakfast today we will visit Ventimiglia where we will have the chance to visit its famous Friday market. Travellers and residents from both Italy and France flock to its streets filled with hundreds of stalls selling everything from clothes to household items – don’t be afraid to barter! Alternatively, we may decide to visit the amazing Hanbury Botanical Gardens where walking paths snake through 45 acres of plants, buildings and fountains. In the afternoon, we pay a visit to San Remo. For 300 years, San Remo has attracted the aristocracy to its palm-fringed shores and we can spend the afternoon exploring the historic La Pigna area of the town (if steps and steep inclines are not an issue) or visiting the Villa Nobel and Gardens.

Day 6 Departure
Today we begin our journey home.
