Day 1 Arrival in Babbacombe / Paignton
We arrive at our hotel this afternoon and enjoy a welcome cup of tea or coffee as our bags are taken to our room.

Day 2 Dartmouth Steam Train & River Cruise 9 miles/0 miles
After breakfast this morning, we will board the Dartmouth Steam Railway at Queens Park Station, Paignton, for our 30 minute return steam train journey to Kingswear. The views of the English Riviera coastline and the picturesque Devonshire countryside are breathtaking. Once we reach Kingswear, we will then board a foot passenger ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth where we will board our boat for a circular River Cruise (approximately 1 hour duration) around the river and estuary. The cruise takes us to the mouth of the river passing fantastic scenery including Kingswear & Dartmouth Castles, Dittisham village, Britannia Royal Naval College and Greenway House – home to the late Dame Agatha Christie. If we are lucky, we may also get the chance to see varied wildlife such as dolphins, seals, herons, egrets, buzzards and kingfishers. On our return to Dartmouth we will have time to look around the shops or enjoy lunch (not included) at one of the many eateries before returning to the ferry terminal for our return ferry and steam train journey to Paignton.

Day 3 Powderham Castle/Deer Park Safari & Exeter 44/47 mile round trip
After breakfast, we make our way to Powderham Castle, home of the Earl and Countess of Devon. The castle is located on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. Originally built in 1391, the castle has remained in the same family ever since. During our fascinating guided visit we will discover over 600 years of family history and learn how the architecture and fine interiors have changed during this time. Following our guided tour of the house we will have the opportunity to explore the American and Victorian Walled Gardens. The castle also boasts an impressive Deer
Park with a herd of around 600 fallow deer. The park has been continuously maintained since 1723 and our visit includes an exciting 35 minute deer park tractor & trailer safari. In the afternoon, we visit the nearby Roman walled city of Exeter. Here we will have the chance to visit the many attractions this beautiful city has to offer including the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery which explores Devon and Exeter’s rich heritage from prehistoric times to the present, and Exeter Cathedral built around 1400. The Cathedral has the longest, uninterrupted vaulted ceiling in England and is also famous for the 59ft high bishop’s throne (dating from 1312), the Astronomical Clock (14th-16th century) and the Exeter Book (11th century), which is still housed in the cathedral library.

Day 4 Torquay 4/7 mile round trip
After breakfast this morning, we travel the short distance to the stylish seaside resort of Torquay. Here we can enjoy a wonderful waterfront stroll along the palm-lined promenade, the Princess Pier, the marina and Princess Gardens with its well-manicured flower beds and ornate water fountain. Situated in the heart of the English Riviera this elegant resort is the perfect place to relax with a Devon Cream tea while gazing out to sea. For a relaxing way to explore the resort there is also a land train to all the major attractions. One of the English Riviera’s most famous figures is the famous novelist Agatha Christie and the Torquay museum features an Agatha Christie Gallery and there is also an ‘Agatha Christie Mile’ featuring land marks from her books.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we depart our hotel and make our way home.
