A Real Tonic in Winchester

Our brand new packaged itinerary is based at the excellent Norton Park Hotel and features two magnificent cathedrals, a steam train journey on the Watercress Line, Arundells (the former home of Sir Edward Heath), the nostalgic Milestones Museum and a guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery – tonics at the ready!
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Winchester & Bombay Sapphire Distillery
We spend this morning at leisure in Winchester, visiting one of the grandest cathedrals in England and one of the largest in Europe, magnificent Winchester Cathedral, where we can join a cathedral tour to learn more about its history and treasures, before exploring the delightful city itself.  In the afternoon, we head for rural Hampshire to enjoy a guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery, where we discover the Glasshouses, the Botanical Dry Room and the Dakin Still House before enjoying a drink suited to our personal taste profile in the Mill Bar.

Day 3 Milestones Museum & Mid Hants Railway
This morning, we visit the interesting Milestones Museum which takes us back to the old cobbled streets of the past with replica buildings, costumed characters and restored vintage vehicles. Visit the 1940’s sweet shop, have a pint at the Baverstock Arms and bring back memories playing on the old penny arcade games on Milestones’ pier. In the afternoon, we visit the Georgian market town of Alresford, the home of Hampshire’s historical watercress industry, where we board a Mid Hants
Railway vintage train for a 1.5 hour round trip through the beautiful Hampshire countryside, on the Watercress Line.

Day 4 Arundells & Salisbury
Today, we travel to Salisbury and visit Arundells House, Garden and Art Collection. The former home of Sir Edward Heath, the house is situated within the spectacular setting of the largest and loveliest Cathedral Close in Britain. Covering 80 acres, the beautiful Greens of the close surround magnificent Salisbury Cathedral, which we can explore at leisure as well as the city itself.
