A Roaring Salisbury Weekender

Staying near Salisbury, we make the most of our proximity to the medieval cathedral city with a full day to explore the magnificent Cathedral, tucking into a cream tea along the way. Our weekend also includes a visit to Longleat Safari Park where plenty of animal encounters await!

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Salisbury
We spend today in Salisbury, with its historic streets and alleyways and charming half-timbered buildings. We enjoy the morning at leisure, perhaps visiting one of the museums (Salisbury Museum, Arundells or the Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum), admiring the 18th century Mompesson House or simply browsing the shops. This afternoon we visit the magnificent 13th century Salisbury Cathedral, boasting the tallest spire in the UK, a working 14th century clock and an original copy of the Magna Carta. We discover 800 years of history during our visit which includes a guided tour and a tasty cream tea.

Day 3 Longleat
Today we visit Longleat with its famous Safari Drive-through! As we journey through this fabulous land we keep our eyes peeled for lions, tigers, wolves, deer, zebras, white rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, Anne the elephant and some very cheeky monkeys! Once parked up, we can enjoy more animal encounters and perhaps enjoy a water-based adventure on the Boat Safari or a journey around the park’s scenic woodland on the Longleat Railway. Our day also includes the opportunity to marvel at the exterior of Longleat House, a masterpiece of Elizabethan architecture, and stroll around the beautiful gardens.

Please note, Longleat House & Safari Park is often very busy during the August school holidays. Alternative options on this day include Wilton House near Salisbury (Sun-Thu only) or Mottisfont Rose Garden.

Day 4 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
