“I recently visited the Holiday Inn in March this year and found it to be a very good standard which prides itself on exceptional service and an excellent welcome for groups. The Wymondham Windmill afternoon tea is a must and comes highly recommended from previous client visits.”

Day 2 King Richard lll Visitor Centre & Leicester Drivers Day off
This morning we make our way to the fascinating King Richard lll Visitor Centre which charts the story of the King’s life. We learn about one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told; we fast forward over 500 years to a car park here in Leicester, where an excavation by the university of Leicester discovered the long-lost remains of King Richard, ending many years of speculation. After our visit we have the rest of the day free to explore the city of Leicester, a city bursting with culture and heritage, from the 900 year old cathedral, where King Richard’s remains were reinterred and the Guildhall, the city’s oldest working building, to the Highcross shopping centre, National Space Centre and Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.

Day 3 Melton Mowbray & Afternoon Tea at Wymondham Windmill
Today is mostly about food! This morning we start our day in Melton Mowbray, the historical market town famous known for its pork pies and Stilton cheese. We have plenty time to be tempted by these tasty treats, so be sure to have a light breakfast! Known locally as the ‘food capital, we can also seek out fresh bread, chutneys and other edible goodies as well as see how a pork pie is made, or even try to make one ourselves. We then pop into Rutland to the family run tearoom at Wymondham Windmill where we trade lunch for an afternoon cream tea with a glass of prosecco. An original five storey flour mill, the new tearooms are vintage designed and serve up homemade cakes, scones and finger sandwiches. After tea, we have time to explore this lovely rural site, perhaps wander the wild wood then browse the selection of boutique shops.

Day 4 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
