“During my visit to Het Loo Palace I was blown away by the beauty of the stunning gardens. It’s a tick box visit when staying in Holland!”
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Historic Triangle! Enkhuizen, Medemblik & Hoorn
This morning we head north and cross the N302, a 27km bridge over the Houtribdijk dam offering fabulous water views. On arrival in Enkhuizen,
we embark on a cruise along the coast of Lake Ijsselmeer, one of the largest, inland freshwater lakes in Holland whilst enjoying a cup of tea/coffee and piece of traditional apple pie. We arrive in Medemblik where we have time to explore the beautiful, historic city and its harbour. We enjoy our packed lunch before boarding a 1 way journey on a steam train. We experience a story from a different era as we trundle through historical pretty villages and the Dutch countryside in an old fashioned steamer. We arrive in Hoorn where we have time to visit Hoorn Museum before we begin our journey back to the hotel.

Day 3 Netherlands Open Air Museum & Palace Het Loo Gardens
We start our journey with a visit to the Netherlands Open Air Museum where we enjoy a 1 hour guided tour. With over 80 historic houses, farmhouses and mills, our tour really brings the history and the culture of the Netherlands to life. This afternoon we visit the beautiful gardens of the Dutch Baroque 17th century Palace Het Loo, the former Royal Residence of the Dutch Royal family. We enjoy a guided tour of the gardens and stables.

Day 4 Old Holland! Volendam & Island of Marken
This morning we are met by our local costumed guide at the authentic fishers' island of Marken, an authentic Dutch village known for its colourful traditional clothing and monumental houses. On the Island we visit the Wooden Shoe Factory and learn how they make clogs following a 100 year old tradition and an opportunity to try a pair of wooden shoes yourself! After a short walk we will have a warm lunch in a traditional harbour restaurant. After lunch we board the Volendam-Marken Express ferry service as we sail the short distance to the picture postcard fishing village of Volendam. In Volendam we begin with a guided walking tour through the harbour and past traditional houses and cottages. We stop at the Cheese Factory in Volendam where we enter the World of Dutch Cheese! Here we discover the art of cheese making and taste several types of cheese. We continue our walking tour with a stop at Woltjes Backerij where we have a demonstration on how the world famous Dutch stroopwafels (Syrup waffles) are made followed by a tasting! After some free time to explore the village on our way home, we will arrive at the hotel in time for dinner.
