Alpine Lakes & Mountains

Our tour begins in Lake Bled, truly one of the most beautiful Alpine resorts and a fantastic base to experience the best of Slovenia. We then make our way to charming Kirchberg to explore the stunning lakes and mountains of the Austrian Tyrol.
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Bled Driver’s Day Off
Today is at leisure to relax and enjoy the area. There are many things to do, but top of the list must be a boat trip across to Bled Island. Here we have a closer look at the Church of the Assumption and discover some of its history as well as what is hidden behind the lush greenery such as the bell tower, chaplain’s house and more.

Day 3 Postojna Caves & Predjama Castle
We head inland today to the breathtaking Postojna Caves one of the largest cave systems in Europe. A specially developed train takes you into the 24km of caves, with fascinating sights of stalactites & stalagmites. We return to our hotel via a photo stop at the medieval Predjama Castle perched ominously at the top of a cliff.

Day 4 Ljubljana & Lipica Stud Farm
This morning we make our way to the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. This is a picturesque city boasting a wealth of attractions such as Tivoli Park, The Dragon Bridge and Ljubljana Castle. This afternoon we follow in the footsteps of HM The Queen as we visit the oldest European stud farm, Lipica, for a guided tour. Here we see how the famous Lipizzan stallions are reared and trained.

Day 5 Kirchberg via Gerlos Pass
This morning, we travel North through Austria, along the famous Gerlos Pass & Ziller Valley before arriving at our hotel in Kirchberg for the next 3 nights.

Day 6 Zell am See
This morning, we travel to the pretty town of Zell am See, nestled on the shores of lovely Lake Zell. We will then enjoy a panoramic boat cruise before spending time wandering through the medieval centre and along the lake shore.

Day 7 Lake Achen Railway & Boat Cruise
Today we travel to Jenbach, from where we join the original Lake Achen cog railway for the journey up to Seespitz. This railway dates back to 1889 and the steam engines are some of the oldest in the world. The train winds its way up above the Inn Valley to its destination, the largest Alpine lake in the Tyrol, Lake Achen. We then board our coach for the short journey to the lakeside resort of Pertisau and enjoy free time here for lunch. After lunch we board our boat for a scenic one-way cruise to the north of the lake before rejoining our coach for our return journey to our hotel.

Day 8 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
