Andorra - Three Countries Explorer!

The tiny principality of Andorra, nestled between France and Spain, is a land of narrow valleys and mountainous landscapes, full of pretty villages and charming vistas, and perfectly located for crossing the border and visiting its neighbours!
Day 1 Arrival
Today, we arrive at our beautiful hotel, nestled within the mountains, and enjoy a glass of sangria as our bags are taken to our room.

Day 2 Scenic Drive & Andorra la Vella 59km/37 mile round trip
Today, we enjoy a tour of Andorra’s four scenic valleys as we travel through spectacular scenery: La Massana, Ordino, Pal and Escaldes. We have time at leisure to explore Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella, with its wealth of shops and designer boutiques. Don’t forget to explore the Barri Antic (old town) square in the original heart of the town when it was little more than a village. Other attractions include the 16th century Casa de la Vall, the old parliament building, court and prison, free tours of which provide a fascinating overview of the history of Andorra. After having lunch in one of the many charming restaurants we can enjoy more time exploring this mountain town.

Day 3 El Tarter Driver’s Day Off
We spend today at leisure. Enjoy the hotel’s extensive facilities or take a walk in the beautiful countryside. The views from the hotel are remarkable and there is plenty of space to relax.

Day 4 Three Countries Tour 168km/104 mile round trip
Today, we will experience three countries – Andorra, Spain and France! In the morning, we cross the border into Spain, to the pretty town of La Seu D’urgell, historically one of the most important cities in medieval Catalonia. Full of Romanesque architecture, attractions include the Santa Maria Cathedral and a market is held every Tuesday and Saturday (it is documented that there has been a market held here since the year 1029)! We then visit the riverside town of Puigcerdà. On the border with France, the town has interesting monuments as well as lovely sunny sidewalk cafés. Our next stop is the French Pyrenees ski resort of Font Romeu. Boasting more than 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, the resort is known as the “Queen of the French Pyrenees resorts”. We stop here before returning to Andorra via Port d’Envalira mountain pass.

Day 5 Vall de Núria & La Molina 184km/114 mile round trip
We leave the principality today and head over the Spanish border, through the Catalan countryside, to the village of Ribes de Freser, from where we will wind our way up the mountain on the historic rack railway to picture-perfect Vall de Núria (standing 2,000m above sea level) enjoying spectacular views on the way. We then return to our hotel via La Molina, one of the area’s mountain resorts.

Day 6 Departure
Today, we make our way home.
