What could be more festive than a pre-Christmas tour of the picturesque forest-covered mountains and enchanting medieval towns of the Black Forest. All sprinkled with a covering of snow and a touch of Christmas magic, join us as we discover this wonderful area and its authentic Christmas markets at the most magical time of the year.
PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival

Day 2 Strasbourg
We have a late morning departure for Strasbourg with a visit to the city centre to see its historic old town in a wonderful setting on the Grande Ile which is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Enjoy visiting the Romanesque Cathedral, an outstanding example of Gothic architecture and famed for its beautiful astronomical clock.

Day 3 Freiburg & Colmar
Late morning, we visit the ‘jewel of the Black Forest’, the capital of Freiburg with time to visit the medieval old town and outstanding Romanesque-styled Munster with elegant spire as well as the Augustiner Museum located in a former monastery building. Afterwards, we will have time for lunch before heading back over the border into the Grand Est region of France to stop at the medieval town of Colmar surrounded by vineyards with time to stroll around the Christmas market.

Day 4 Triberg, Wolfach & Gengenbach
We enjoy a morning visit to the Black Forest town of Triberg with the opportunity to visit the famous waterfalls, some of the highest in Germany and browse the enchanting shops decorated for Christmas. We will enjoy lunch before travelling to Wolfach to see the local glass blowers, skilled craftsmen creating a range of beautiful glass objects. Afterwards, we head to the nearby Christmas market in the well-preserved Medieval town of Gengenbach (open from 14:00) before returning to the hotel.
