Clare says…
“In the summer, there is a land train that departs outside Concarneau city walls which provides a one hour circular tour of the medieval town.”
Day 1 Arrival
We make our way towards the quaint walled town of Concarneau.

Day 2 Concarneau Driver’s Day Off
Today we remain in Concarneau. We can either take the land train or simply wander along the beach to the beautiful walled town that sits on a long island in the centre of the harbour.

Day 3 River Odet Boat Cruise, Quimper & Locronan 93km/58 mile round trip
This morning, we will make our way to the seaside resort of Benodet, from where will embark on a circular river cruise lasting just over two hours, along the beautiful Odet river, “the most beautiful river in France”. Our journey will take us past wooded landscapes, numerous castles, manor houses and forgotten creeks and our guided commentary will tell us all about the attractions along the route. After our cruise, we will make our way to Quimper, the cultural heart of Brittany. The city’s crowning glory is its gothic cathedral, which dominates the atmospheric old town in which there is no shortage of half-timbered 14th century houses. We spend time here and enjoy lunch before making our way to the stunning village of Locronan. This exquisite village is named after a revered Irishman who settled here in the Dark Ages but its legacy stems from its later trade as a centre for sail-making which brought it prosperity and exceptional architecture. The village is full of history and has many little boutiques to explore.

Day 4 Pont-Aven & Quimperlé 75km/47 mile round trip
This morning we will visit the pretty ‘village of artists’ and historical port town of Pont-Aven. Historic watermills along the banks of the River Aven provide a scenic backdrop to the town that is also famous as an artists’ retreat and for the invention in 1920 of galettes (butter biscuits). After lunch, we will continue on to Quimperlé where we will explore the picturesque medieval centre and the Abbey of Sainte-Croix.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
