Rob says…
”The Ardoe House is one of the most magnificent hotels I have ever seen and the Marine Troon one of the most impressive, your passengers are in for a treat in this west to east tour.”
Day 1 Arrival in Troon
We arrive in time for dinner at The Marine Hotel.

Day 2 Robert Burns Birthplace Museum & Dumfries House
This morning we visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which offers a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Set in 10 acres of the poet’s cherished countryside, the museum includes the famous Burns Cottage, where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world’s most important collection of his life and works. From here we continue to Dumfries House, a stunning estate and 18th century house set in 2,000 acres, where we enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea served within the main house (exclusively for groups) before returning to our hotel.

Day 3 Aberdeen via Discovery Point Dundee
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Troon and begin our journey to Aberdeen via Dundee, where we will have free time for lunch followed by a visit to Discovery Point. Here we explore Captain Scott’s ship, Discovery, which he sailed on his remarkable Antarctic expedition. We gain an insight into the man who captained this historic adventure at the turn of the 20th century and the story of life on board for the Discovery crew. We also have the option of visiting the impressive, newly opened V&A Dundee which is right next to Discovery Point, before we continue our journey on to Aberdeen, our base for the next 3 nights.

Day 4 Montrose Air Station & Glamis Castle
This morning, we travel along the beautiful coastal route to the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre where we see lovingly restored fighter planes from WW I and II and learn the history of some of the aces who were trained at Montrose air field. In the afternoon, we enjoy a guided tour of Glamis Castle, renowned for being Scotland’s most beautiful castle and famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s Macbeth and the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Day 5 Balmoral & Royal Deeside Railway
Today, we make our way to Balmoral, the Scottish home of the Royal Family, where we visit the largest room in the castle, the Ballroom, as well as the exhibitions, grounds and gardens at leisure. En route back to our hotel we visit the Royal Deeside Railway at Milton of Crathes station where we board a diesel or steam train (subject to timetable) for a 2 mile return journey. The Royal Deeside Railway is unique in having served all British monarchs, from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II, their families and foreign visitors travelling to Balmoral. Please note, admittance to Balmoral is subject to members of the Royal Family not being in residence.
