Collection – Coast to Coast Splendour

Our new luxurious twin centre packaged tour starts with 2 nights at the Marine Hotel, overlooking the spectacular Ayrshire Coast, before we travel across Scotland to Aberdeenshire to stay in a stunning 19th century mansion hotel for 3 nights. Full of great attractions, just look at what is included!
Day 1 Arrival in Troon
We arrive at our hotel in Troon in time for dinner.

Day 2 Robert Burns Birthplace Museum & Dumfries House
This morning we visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which offers a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Set in 10 acres of the poet’s cherished countryside, the museum includes the famous Burns Cottage, where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world’s most important collection of his life and works. From here we continue to Dumfries House, a stunning estate and 18th century house set in 2,000 acres, where we enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea served within the main house (exclusively for groups) before returning to our hotel.

Day 3 From Troon to Aberdeen & Discovery Point Dundee
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Troon and begin our journey to Aberdeen via Dundee, where we will have free time for lunch followed by a visit to Discovery Point. Here we explore Captain Scott’s ship, Discovery, which he sailed on his remarkable Antarctic expedition. We gain an insight into the man who captained this historic adventure at the turn of the 20th century and the story of life on board for the Discovery crew. After our visit we continue on to Aberdeen, our base for the next 3 nights.

Day 4 Aberdeen & Dolphin Adventure Cruise
This morning, we make the short journey to Aberdeen where we spend time at leisure exploring Scotland’s third largest city. See the impressive turreted Town House in Union Street, the castellated Citadel at The Castlegate and the striking gothic Marischal College, the world’s second largest granite structure, which are all fine examples of Aberdeen's most famous export. Attractions include Provost Skene's House, the Aberdeen Maritime Museum and the famous shopping 'Granite Mile'. In the afternoon our adventure begins at the Dolphin Education Centre with an audio visual presentation.

Day 5 Crathes Castle & Royal Deeside Railway
There are more castles per acre in Aberdeenshire than anywhere else in the UK and today we visit Crathes Castle. Turrets, gargoyles and the ancient Horn of Leys are just a few of the fascinating features of this beautiful home and the gardens are a delight at any time of year. We then make our way to the Royal Deeside Railway at Milton of Crathes train station where we board a diesel or steam train (subject to timetable) for a 2 mile return journey. The Royal Deeside Railway is unique in having served all British monarchs, from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II, their families and foreign visitors travelling to Balmoral. After our journey we enjoy free time in the nearby town of Banchory before returning to our hotel.

Day 6 Departure
This morning, we begin our journey home.
