Day 1 Arrival
Today we depart our local area and make our way to our Huntingdon hotel. On arrival we enjoy a welcome tea or coffee whilst our bags are taken to our room.

Day 2 Duxford & Cambridge 59 mile round trip
This morning our destination is the Imperial War Museum Duxford, Britain’s best preserved WW2 airfield. Its story reflects the landmark achievements made in aviation history and it incorporates a series of museums and exhibitions such as the 1940s Operations Room, AirSpace (featuring 30 iconic aircraft including the Spitfire and Concorde), The American Air Museum (with the largest collection of US historic military aircraft in Europe), The Battle of Britain Exhibition (and RAF Duxford’s pivotal role) and Land Warfare to name but a few! Following our fascinating visit we spend a leisurely afternoon in the university city of Cambridge with its architecturally stunning colleges, the most famous being Kings College with its distinctive gothic chapel and illustrious list of former students. During our visit we can enjoy a stroll through the quaint passages set around the historic market place, explore the unique shops, be inspired by the many beautiful museums and art galleries, or relax on a punt down the River Cam. The choice is yours!

Day 3 Barnsdale Gardens, Oakham & Rutland Water 79 mile round trip
Today we visit Barnsdale Gardens with 38 pocket-sized, themed garden ‘rooms’ on an 8 acre site, the attraction is inspirational for garden-lovers of all ages. The magnificent gardens were built by Britain’s best loved gardener, the late Geoff Hamilton, star of Gardener’s World. Here we can enjoy a walk around the gardens and spend some time in the nursery where many of the specimens on display in the gardens can be purchased. We can also have refreshments in the lovely tearoom on site. We then journey to Oakham, a pretty traditional English market town, bustling with activity. Saturday is market day and the ideal place to pick up some of the best local produce and there are numerous antique and collectable shops, well stocked bookshops and art galleries to explore. Look out for the unusual stocks and the town pump beneath the Butter Cross - the five hole stocks are somewhat of a mystery and many a story exists to explain the fifth hole! We end the day with a relaxing cream tea cruise on Rutland water, a large reservoir set within thousand acres of beautiful English countryside. We are served tea, coffee and scones with jam & cream and enjoy the scenery from the water, whilst listening to commentary highlighting points of interest.

Day 4 Bletchley Park 78 mile round trip
This morning, we make our way to Bletchley Park where Alan Turing and his colleagues helped crack Germany’s Enigma Code during World War II. We will uncover Bletchley Park’s remarkable story by visiting the unglamorous, functional Codebreaking Huts and Blocks, Alan Turing’s office, the Library, the wartime garages (complete with WW2 vehicles) and a series of fascinating interactive exhibits. We may choose to enjoy lunch (not included) in Hut 4 (formerly home to WW2 Naval Intelligence Code Breaking Operations) during our visit before returning to our hotel.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we leave our hotel and return to our local area.
