On arrival at our hotel, we will enjoy a welcome tea or coffee whilst our bags are taken to our room.

Day 2 Beamish Museum 18/59 mile round trip

This famous open air museum, set within 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside, tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. We will experience town life as it would have been in the 1940s during World War 2, visit a 1940s farm, take a trip on a steam train (some peak season weekends only) from Rowley Station, pop into the Colliery and the Pit Village in the early 1900s and take unlimited free rides on the Beamish tram.

Day 3 Durham 0/29 mile round trip
Today, we will visit Durham’s World Heritage Site. Experience one of the finest surviving examples of Romanesque architecture at the beautiful Durham Cathedral, where the breathtaking vaulted ceiling soars skyward like the choristers’ voices. Not to be missed is its new Open Treasure experience which gives visitors access to previously hidden spaces within the Cathedral’s magnificent Claustral buildings. Durham is a compact city to wander around and we can enjoy exploring its winding cobbled streets, dramatic architecture and fantastic visitor attractions.
