Elegant Eastern Shores of Lake Garda 2020

From our base on the eastern shores of the lake, this Lake Garda tour takes you to beautiful villages with sandy beaches, towns with castles, palaces and mountains and the stunning city of Verona with its cathedral, the Castelvecchio and of course the ‘Capulet’ balcony.

Tina says...
"The hospitality and quality of the Drago really stands out for me, owned and run by the lovely Resi and her family who really know how to make a stay with them special. Set in a lovely lake front location in a quiet area, the hotel’s welcoming beach bar across the road makes a wonderful place to sit and take in the beautiful views Garda is so famous for."
SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Brenzone Driver’s Day Off
We spend today relaxing at our hotel or perhaps taking a walk along the lake. Alternatively, local coach hire can be arranged should we wish to venture out for the day.

Day 3 Malcesine
Today, we visit the ancient town of Malcesine, perched on the lake’s edge under the shadow of breathtaking Monte Baldo. Take the cable car to the summit for spectacular views across the lake and the Dolomites before exploring the cobbled streets of the old town below and its impressive Scaliger Castle and Captain’s Palace.

Day 4 Verona
This morning, we travel to Verona where we see the ‘Capulet’ balcony that inspired Shakespeare’s play 'Romeo and Juliet’, which was set in this stunning Erbe framed with medieval buildings. Other attractions include Verona’s beautiful cathedral, the Castelvecchio and the Scaligero Bridge, and the Roman amphitheatre at Piazza Bra where the crowds gather in the summer to experience the Opera.

Day 5 Lazise & Desenzano
This morning, we travel to the pretty walled village of Lazise with its paved lakefront promenade and fine sandy beach. The 12th century Church of San Nicolo is known for its frescoes while the Scaliger Castle can only be admired from the outside, being privately owned. We can enjoy lunch at the Trattoria da Arturo before making our way to the small town of Desenzano del Garda. With views over the lake, this lovely town has pretty lanes and shops, a small peaceful harbour, a small fortress, Roman Villa and an archaeological museum to explore.

Day 6 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
