English Snowdrops

There are lots of great places to see snowdrops in England, some of our favourites include: Hodsock Priory, Painswick Rococo Garden, Chirk Castle and Burton Agnes Hall. Read on to find out more!
Hodsock Priory
Open for snowdrops from 10/02/19 to 03/03/19 (Estimated) – 10am-4pm

Hodsock Priory is an historic country house wedding venue set in 800 acres of countryside on the border of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. The Priory offers breathtaking views, with a Tudor Gatehouse and acres of gardens, woodland and rolling fields – plenty of space for a magical carpet of snowdrops!

Painswick Rococo Garden
Open 10.30am-5pm (last admission at 4.30pm)

See the snowdrops at Painswick Rococo Garden, the country's sole surviving complete rococo garden. Designed in the 1740s as a fanciful pleasure garden for Benjamin Hyett and his guests, this hidden valley offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and intriguing garden buildings.

Chirk Castle
Open 10am-4pm

Take a walk in the gardens at Chirk Castle in February to see a beautiful white carpet of snowdrops - a sure sign that Spring is on the way. From February, snowdrop season at Chirk Castle is our traditional way to dust off the old year and embrace the new. With a beautiful white carpet of snowdrops throughout the Pleasure Ground Wood, including some rare species, and also patches of snowdrops across the wider estate.

Burton Agnes Hall
Open for snowdrops from 09/02/19 to 03/03/19 (Estimated) – 11am-4pm

Built between 1598 and 1610 by Sir Henry Griffith, Burton Agnes Hall is an Elizabethan stately home that has stayed within one family for more than four hundred years. Every February, millions of hardy snowdrops push through the cold winter ground to create a magnificent ‘white carpet’ across the woodland floor. The snowdrop walk makes a truly memorable day out at the end of a long winter. The beautiful little flowers grow in large numbers each year.
