Evesham Blossom Trail

Mid-March to Mid-May 2019

Recognised for its apples, pears and plums, the Vale of Evesham and surrounding area boasts some of the most productive horticultural land in the country. During mid-March and mid-May, the soft pink tones of cherry and apple blossom contrast beautifully with the white blossom of the pear and plum trees which explode into life along the roadsides of the Vale.

We have dates available at the acclaimed Cheltenham Chase Hotel, covering the period when the trees are generally in bloom.

Why not follow our wonderful suggested spring time itinerary - including a journey on the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway, an Avon River Cruise from Evesham and, of course, a guided tour of the blossom trail!
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel with time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2 Cheltenham and the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway
This morning, we have free time to explore the beautiful spa town of Cheltenham. The town is renowned for its Regency architecture, stylish shopping, colourful parks and floral displays. We can enjoy lunch at leisure in one of the town's many fine restaurants. In the afternoon we board the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway for a return journey to Toddington, where there is a shop, museum and large tea room. The line commands wonderful views of the hamlets & villages along the way, with wonderful outlooks to the Malvern Hills and beyond. We will see the magnificent Stanway Viaduct (almost 50 feet high with 15 arches) and travel through the dark and mysterious Greet tunnel (look out for the ghost!). With authentic Great Western Railway stations, vehicle exhibits, a have-a-go signal box and locomotive yard viewing area at Toddington, there is plenty to see in addition to our journey before returning to our hotel.

Day 3 Evesham Blossom Trail & River Avon Cruise
Today we will we meet our local guide in Evesham for a 2 hour tour of the fabulous Blossom Trail. In the afternoon we return to Evesham to enjoy a relaxing 2 hour boat trip with cream tea on the River Avon, before returning to our hotel.

Day 4 Tewksbury and Gloucester

We could visit ‘Out of the Hat’, an exquisite example of a 17th century home and shop that now houses a heritage centre - or take a stroll along Church Street, lined with a half-timbered houses and punctuated with Tewkesbury’s famous alleyways. We might choose to visit Tewkesbury Museum before making our way to the beautiful 12th century Norman-built Tewkesbury Abbey. Built to house Benedictine monks in 1211, the Abbey’s long nave and large Romanesque tower are certainly distinguishing features. We enjoy lunch at leisure in Tewkesbury before making our way to the beautiful city of Gloucester. Here we can enjoy free time to wander around Gloucester’s glorious medieval Cathedral, which was used as Hogwarts in most of the Harry Potter films, or alternatively visit the Victorian docks and explore the award winning Gloucester Waterways Museum overlooking the River Severn.
