Day 2 Lermoos Driver’s Day Off
We will spend today at leisure, taking advantage of the hotel’s extensive leisure facilities.

Day 3 Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau & Füssen
Today, we visit the most romantic castle in the world, King Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein. Used as Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s castle, the mock-medieval architecture and stunning views have to be seen to be believed. After lunch, we visit King Ludwig’s nearby childhood home, Hohenschwangau Castle with its richly furnished interiors which exude a more ‘lived in’ feel. We will then spend the rest of our day exploring the beautiful monastic town of Füssen.

Please note, payment for entry for both castles is cash on the day and pre-booking is required. Entrance to both castles involves an uphill walk (there are buses or horses and carriages available at an extra charge) and there are steps within both castles.

Day 4 Linderhof Palace & Ettal Abbey
Today, our first destination is King Ludwig II’s Linderhof Palace. Take your pick of delights, from its intricately ornate interiors to its beautiful gardens, designed by Carl von Effner, which combine formal Baroque-style with Italian Renaissance and landscaping. After time for lunch, we visit Ettal Abbey, a stunning Benedictine Monastery famous for its production of beer and cheese, both of which can be bought in the adjoining shop. Please note, due to urgently required restoration work in the Linderhof Palace park, noise and construction machinery disruption is currently unavoidable; the Venus Grotto is not due to re-open until the end of 2022.

Day 5 The Zugspitze & Garmisch
This morning, we travel to the pretty town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, formerly the home of the composer, Richard Strauss. We will board a train bound for the summit of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, which straddles the border between Germany and Austria. After enjoying the amazing views, we can enjoy free time in the town before returning to our hotel.

Day 6 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
