Travelling on the east coast of Scotland to the west, we will enjoy magnificent views from our train window on our 2 hour 40 minute journey along the 80 miles of track. Passing along the southern bank of the Beauly Firth, we will continue on our route, passing wild mountain scenery, lochs and glorious dramatic rocky shores until we take in the wonderful views across to the spectacular Isle of Skye, reaching our destination at Kyle Railway Station.

(A return journey can be arranged to avoid driving long distances on this day)

Day 3 Strathspey Steam Railway 116 mile/67 mile round trip
We begin today in Aviemore and travel on the Strathspey Steam Railway. At the start of our journey we are treated to the stunning backdrop of the Cairngorms Mountains as we head off North East on our 10 mile journey, taking in glorious views of heather-clad moors, the ancient Caledonian forest and the fast flowing Spey River before we reach Broomhill. We will then board our coach and travel to the Speyside Cooperage, the only family-owned working cooperage in the UK that exports shipping casks worldwide.

Day 4 From Newtonmore: Fort William to Mallaig 175 mile round trip
Today we embark on a journey described as the greatest railway journey in the world, which takes us on a 42 mile stretch of the wonderful West Highland Line from Fort William to Mallaig. We will travel along the bank of Loch Eil before experiencing the iconic curve of the Glenfinnan Viaduct’s magnificent 21 arches. After enjoying the stark beauty of Lochs Eilt, Ailort and Nan Uamh, we will have spectacular views of the Isle of Skye. We will have free time in Mallaig before we return to our hotel.

Day 4 From Grantown-On-Spey: Reindeer Centre & Cairngorm Funicular Railway 50 mile round trip
We will take a scenic drive through the Cairngorms National Park, Britain’s highest and most vast mountain range. We will visit the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, home to the only free-ranging herd of reindeer in the UK. We then head to Aviemore, where we can enjoy free time for lunch. We continue to the foot of Cairngorm itself and board the Funicular Railway, ascending the northern slopes of the mountain on a spectacular 2km journey.
