Galway, Connemara & the Aran Islands 2019

Our fantastic tour takes in the rugged Aran Islands, Connemara National Park, the vibrant city of Galway and tranquil Kylemore Abbey - find out more below!
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Aran Islands
This morning we visit the magnificent Aran Islands. We take a 40 minute crossing on the ferry from the village of Ros a’ Mhil, arriving into the harbour of Kilronan from where we embark on a minibus tour with a local guide. The highlight of our tour is Dun Aengus, a 2000 year old fort perched on the edge of a 60m cliff top.  Please note that sturdy footwear is recommended, as the path to the fort is quite steep and partly follows some uneven ground.

Day 3 Galway
This morning, we drive to the centre of the small, colourful city of Galway to board the Corrib Princess at Woodquay for a 90 minute cruise along the River Corrib to Lough Corrib, Ireland’s second largest lake, enjoying commentary from our ship’s Galway skipper along the way. After our cruise, we spend the rest of the afternoon in Galway at leisure.

Day 4 Connemara National Park
Today, we enjoy a full day tour of Connemara National Park, one of the wildest and most beautiful regions in the whole of Ireland. We make a lunch stop at the Victorian town of Clifden before travelling on to Kylemore Abbey, owned and run by the Benedictine community who have been in residence here since 1920. Boasting Ireland’s largest
walled garden, the Abbey also sells Kylemore Abbey pottery and award winning chocolates handmade by the Benedictine nuns.

Day 5 Departure
We begin our journey home this morning.
