Gorgeous Gower

Take a trip through history to visit grand houses, magnificent gardens and restored steam railways while also experiencing one of the most stunning coasts in Britain - the Gower Peninsula and the Mumbles. Based in the recently fully refurbished Mercure Swansea, our hotel is contemporary and chic with design nods to Swansea’s industrial past.

Rob says…
“The refurbished Mercure Swansea Hotel is very well designed and the staff are very friendly. I was impressed to learn that the head housekeeper has been working at the hotel for many years and is very proud of her hotel, and quite rightly so - a small
bonus maybe, but very important.”
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Gwili Railway & Aberglasney
We drive north to Bronwydd Arms Station to take the morning service on the lovingly restored Gwili Narrow-Gauge Railway as it winds its way north beside the River Gwili before returning to Abergwili junction and Bronwydd Arms Station. In the afternoon we travel to marvellous Aberglasney House & Gardens. With history dating from the 1600s this partially restored mansion features a sub-tropical indoor garden as well as 10 acres of exquisite landscaped gardens.

Day 3 Llancaiach Fawr Manor & Swansea Marina
This morning, we visit the must-see Llancaiach Fawr Manor living history museum. Set in the turbulent times of the Civil War visitors are welcomed by the servants of Colonel Pritchard dressed in period costume, who allow you to share and engage in their world. In the afternoon we return to Swansea via the Marina and the National Waterfront Museum (free entry) in which the Welsh industrial and maritime heritage story is told through a unique visitor experience, housed within a listed waterfront warehouse.

Day 4 The Gorgeous Gower Peninsula
This morning we travel to the Gower Heritage Centre where we meet our qualified guide for a step-on guided tour of beautiful Gower. After our scenic tour, we return to the Gower Heritage Centre for a traditional Welsh Cream Tea before travelling to the coastal village of Mumbles, where we enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
