Historical Kent

Discover Kent’s historical past with this new packaged tour including a visit to Chatham Historic Dockyard with the ever-popular Call the Midwife Location Tour, a visit to Kent’s largest military museum plus a visit to Leeds Castle. Not to forget the historic town of Rochester with its Charles Dickens connections.

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Royal Engineers Museum & Rochester
We begin this morning with a visit to the Royal Engineers Museum where we discover the story of how the Royal Engineers helped the British Army live, move and fight for over 300 years with a guided tour. With many galleries, interactive exhibitions, indoor and outdoor play areas, there is plenty for the whole family to see and do. In the afternoon we have free time to explore the historic town of Rochester. Visit the Cathedral or the Castle and enjoy the array of shops, cafes and tearooms before we head back to the hotel.

Day 3 Leeds Castle & Gardens
Today we make the short journey to Leeds Castle & Gardens. The magnificent castle, surrounded by 500 acres of gardens and parkland, has so much to offer with attractions including falconry displays, adventure golf, the gatehouse exhibition and dog collar museum, punting on the moat, Elsie the Castle Train and the Black Swan Ferry (small charges apply for the golf/punting/train/ferry).

Day 4 The Historic Dockyard Chatham
We head to one of Kent’s best visitor attractions today, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, where we enjoy the Call the Midwife Location Tour. On this 90-minute walking tour, led by a costumed midwife, you will see sets, props and costumes all from the much-loved TV series. After the tour we could enjoy a cream tea before exploring the rest of the Dockyard, which features 3 historic warships and over 10 museum galleries all depicting the 400 year story of the Royal Dockyard.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
