Iconic Isle of Skye

Our fantastic new multi-centre packaged tour takes in some of west Scotland’s most spectacular and iconic scenery, castles and gardens. We take a cruise along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, marvel at the legendary landscape of the Island of Skye and journey along the rugged coast to Ullapool in the northern Highlands.
PACKAGED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival in Loch Lomond
We arrive at our first hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Loch Katrine Cruise
We spend today taking in the spectacular scenery en route to our first destination, Loch Katrine. Departing from the Trossochs Pier, we enjoy an awe-inspiring 2 hour return cruise on the world-famous Steamship Sir Walter Scott. Gliding past stunning Trossachs landmarks, the friendly crew will regale us with tales and legends of the Loch while we sit back and relax in comfort. Next we head for the pretty, bustling tourist town of Callander, the location for the original Doctor Findlay’s Casebook TV series. We have free time to enjoy lunch and explore before heading back to our hotel.

Day 3 Journey to Skye
We leave Loch Lomond behind today and make our way to Skye journeying through spectacular countryside. Travelling via Fort William, we stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle, situated on an island and surrounded by majestic scenery. We explore the inside of the castle before we continue to the famous Skye Bridge for our crossing to the mystical island of Skye, our home for the next two nights.

Day 4 Dunvegan Castle, Trotternish & Portree
Today we make our way to the north west corner of Skye to visit famous Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. Built on a rocky outcrop on the shores of Loch Dunvegan (once entirely encircled by the sea) Dunvegan is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for 800 years. After our visit here, we enjoy a scenic drive up the Trotternish Peninsula, home to the Old Man of Storr, before returning to our hotel via the picturesque harbour town of Portree. Set around a natural harbour and fringed by high ground and cliffs, the town is a popular tourist destination.

Day 5 Armadale Castle & Inverewe Gardens
This morning, we visit Armadale Castle, Gardens & Museum of the Isles where we discover the history of the Highlands and Islands through the story of Clan Donald, its most powerful clan, before enjoying the 46 acres of beautiful woodland gardens surrounding the castle, which offer stunning views from the front of the lawn across the Sound of Sleat to the Knoydart Mountains. In the afternoon, we head to the mainland and the fishing village of Gairloch where we visit the award-winning botanical Inverewe Gardens which are full of amazing flora not normally seen in the UK. From here we follow the coastal road north to our next hotel in Ullapool.

Day 6 Ullapool Driver’s Day Off
We enjoy a day at leisure in the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, nestled on the shores of Loch Broom. The natural beauty of this area has to be seen to be believed and the attractions in this quaint village include the Ullapool Museum or one of the many boat trips offering tours around the surrounding waters (individual bookings in advance advised).

Day 7 Departure/Overnight
We head south to our overnight hotel in the Perth/Dundee area.

Day 8 Departure
We continue our journey home.
