Ireland Coast to Coast

Our new twin centre coast to coast programme explores both the south east and south west of Ireland. We include a boat trip to the spectacular Aran Islands with a traditional Irish pony and trap tour, a cruise around the mighty Cliffs of Moher and visits to Galway, Kilkenny and Waterford. We stay at the fabulous new Inn at Dromoland Hotel and the super Talbot Hotel Wexford, a well-known, trusted hotel.

GREAT NEWS: After Brexit (deal or no deal), Passports still won’t be needed for entry into Ireland. How’s that for a great deal!
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at the Inn at Dromoland, our base for the next 3 nights.

Day 2 Aran Islands & The Cliffs of Moher
Today, we travel southwards along the Wild Atlantic Way to Doolin Pier where we board the Doolin ferry for the 30 minute cruise to the Aran Island of Inis Oirr. On arrival, we enjoy a pony and trap tour of the island before having free time for lunch at the pier and re-boarding our ferry in the afternoon for a stunning cruise to the base of the Cliffs of Moher.

Day 3 Galway & Lough Corrib
After breakfast this morning we drive to the centre of the small, colourful medieval city of Galway, where we enjoy a guided walking tour. The city’s narrow streets and interesting alleyways provide you with the feeling that little has changed for centuries. After lunch we board the Corrib Princess at Woodquay for a 90 minute cruise along the River Corrib and onto Lough Corrib, Ireland's second largest lake. We pass castles and a variety of historical landmarks whilst listening to fascinating cultural and historical commentary from the ship's skipper. Also included on this cruise are Irish dancing & Irish coffee-making demonstrations.

Day 4 County Clare to Wexford via Kilkenny
We arrive in Kilkenny, Ireland's most historic and compact city. Its Medieval heritage is evident in the city's historical buildings and landmarks, which can be taken in with a stroll down the Medieval Mile, stretching from Kilkenny Castle to the Bishop’s Palace. We complete our day with a visit to Smithwick's Experience, home to the number one Irish Ale. Smithwick's has been brewed since 1710 and is still a favourite with ale drinkers today. We enjoy a guided tour explaining the history and process of brewing followed by a cheeky Smithwick's ale in the bar. We depart Smithwicks and make our way to our next hotel, the Talbot Hotel, in Wexford.

Day 5 Waterford

Today we head for Ireland's oldest city, Waterford. We can take time to explore this interesting city, visiting Waterford Medieval Treasures, which tells the fascinating story of the city in an interactive and high-tech museum. We may then decide to take a stroll along the quay and visit one of the many traditional pubs and cafés before visiting the new House of Waterford Crystal, now located in the city centre. We explore the factory, walking through the Mould Room and the Blowing and Cutting Departments along the way. We can spend the rest of the day exploring the city at our leisure.
This day can also be arranged as a driver’s day off in Wexford.
