Day 2 Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park offers visitors a window into Ireland’s medieval and early 20th century past. From the 15th century medieval castle to Bunratty Folk Park which features over 30 buildings in a ‘living’ village and rural setting. Farmhouses, village shops and streets are recreated as they would have appeared back in the early 1900’s. Wander along an old-fashioned Irish village street, and meet a host of colourful village characters, eager to tell a tale, teach Gaelic language or play a tune or two. 2024 plans to be a very exciting year for Bunratty Castle and Folk Park as they launch several new and exciting additions and enhancements to the visitor experiences, including a train ride throughout the upper end of the park, a medieval quarter in the castle courtyard and an enhanced arrival experience.
Why not upgrade your customers experience at Bunratty with a new addition of taking a Jaunting car ride around the park.
Day 3 Aran Islands & Cliffs of Moher Cruise
Today we travel along the Wild Atlantic Way to Doolin Pier where we board the Doolin Ferry, which takes us from Doolin to Inis Mór in just 35 minutes. On arrival on the magnificent Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands, we embark on a minibus tour with a local guide. Having some of the most spectacular cliff coastline in Europe and home to over 50 monuments of Christian, pre-Christian and Celtic mythological heritage, we discover the fascinating history of this living outdoor museum. The highlight of our tour is a visit to Dun Aengus, a 2,000 year old fort perched on the edge of a 300ft high cliff. Please note, sturdy footwear is recommended for this part of the tour as ground is uneven in some places. This afternoon, we board our return ferry back to Doolin Pier, before setting sail again for a stunning 1 hour cruise under the iconic Cliffs of Moher, which rise to a whopping height of over 700ft at their highest point.
Day 4 The Burren Centre & Vandeleur Walled Gardens
Today we head to The Burren Centre, considered to be the gateway to the region and The Cliffs of Moher, to learn more about this limestone paradise on the Wild Atlantic Way. Featuring the largest expanse of limestone pavement in the world and recognised as a UNESCO Geopark, the new Interpretive Exhibition offers an essential introduction, taking visitors through thousands of years of history, revealing the flora and fauna, geology, archaeology, history, people and legends of the region. This afternoon we have the delight of a visit to the hidden botanical gem of Vandeleur Walled Gardens set in 170 hectares of native woodland. From the winding tree-lined avenue to the beautifully restored and crafted colourful, formal gardens, there is much to admire in this effective tribute to Ireland’s rich and natural history.
