PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Llangollen & Horse Drawn Canal Trip
After breakfast, we enjoy time at leisure in Llangollen before we experience a 2-hour
relaxing horse-drawn canal boat cruise, admiring the Chain Bridge across the River
Dee and marvelling at the manmade Horseshoe Falls, a striking feature on the river,
whilst gliding along one of the most beautiful lengths of canal you will ever see. We’ll
also enjoy a Welsh cream tea box onboard.

Day 3 Llangollen Railway & Ruthin
This morning, we head for Llangollen Railway, which is primarily a steam hauled heritage railway. Our 90-minute return journey begins beside the Dee River Bridge in the town centre & continues for 10 miles upstream to Carrog station, where we enjoy spectacular views over the River Dee. We have free time at Carrog station before we board our train back to Llangollen. In the afternoon, we drive from Llangollen to Ruthin via the Horseshoe Pass and admire the views. We have time at leisure in the historic market town of Ruthin. Denbighshire’s first coach-friendly town, Ruthin is packed with history from medieval times to the Tudors and more. Explore its cobbled streets & attractions including Ruthin Castle, Nantclwyd y Dre or the Ruthin Gaol (the only purpose-built Pentonville style prison open to the public as a heritage attraction).

Day 4 Chirk Castle
We travel to the medieval fortress of Chirk Castle this morning, which reveals 400 years of changing tastes in its lavishly furnished rooms. We have free time for lunch in the historic kitchen before strolling through the gardens – stand on the terrace and admire the 18th century ha-ha at the bottom of the garden, with stunning views.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
