Mark says...
“This is not your standard Novotel Hotel! Set in 36 hectares of its own grounds and stunning gardens, you wouldn’t realise you were only 20km from Paris!”
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Royaumont Abbey & Monet’s Gardens
Our first stop today is to the 13th century Royaumont Abbey. This gothic masterpiece holds a vast history, being the home of a monastery, a textile factory, a village and a noviciate! We take time to explore the royal abbey and its gardens. We finish our day in Giverny, at Monet’s country retreat, where we will visit the impressionist painter’s charming pink house and iconic gardens. After discovering the house, we can relax in the gardens at our leisure, admiring the Japanese bridge and famous waterlily pond.

Day 3 Compiègne & Domaine de Chantilly
Today, we visit a moving historical site and a powerful symbol of peace, the Armistice Clearing, where the 1918 and 1940 armistices were signed
in Compiègne. The Armistice Museum features a life size replica of the famous railway carriage in which the Germans signed their surrender on 11th November 1918 and where the French signed their surrender to Germany on 22 June 1940. We then travel to one of the jewels in the crown of France’s cultural heritage, the Domaine de Chantilly, which houses the treasures of the last King of France. The Château contains the second largest collection of antique paintings after the Louvre and the second largest library in France for illuminated manuscripts, whilst the Museum of the Horse, housed within the Great Stables complex, exhibits 200 works of art and decorative arts pieces. The gardens include a French styled garden, an Anglo-Chinese garden and an English garden, all beautifully landscaped and a joy to behold.

Day 4 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
