PACKAGED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 2 Keighley & Worth Valley Railway & Skipton Canal Cruise
This morning we embark on a journey through Bronte country on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway from Haworth to Keighley – look out for the station which boasted a starring role in the film The Railway Children. After, we make our way to Skipton to embark on a 3-hour narrow boat cruise along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal through the picturesque Pennine countryside with Afternoon Tea.
Day 3 Bury Market, East Lancashire Railway & Oswaldtwistle Mills
This morning we head straight to Bury and its famous market – voted Britain’s best – where we can browse the extensive stalls in the large market hall and outside. We then board our train as we step back in time for a nostalgic trip on a steam train along the East Lancashire Railway. Our journey takes us through the beautiful Lancashire countryside to Rawtenstall where we disembark. We then make our final stop at Oswaldtwistle Mills shopping village and garden centre. This award winning former weaving mill has over 100 retailers under one roof, garden centre, mill grounds, craft and sewing centre, Textile and Heritage Museum and even its own wildfowl reserve. We can enjoy a homemade pie & peas, followed by jam & cream scone and tea/coffee before having time to browse the shops.
Day 4 RHS Harlow Carr & Harrogate
This morning we visit the beautiful RHS Garden Harlow Carr. This afternoon we have time at leisure in the Victorian spa town of Harrogate. We may wish to visit the grade II listed Royal Pump Room Museum, which explores Harrogate’s spa history, browse the various independent and well-known shops, or sip a cuppa in the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms.
Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
