Janine says...
“The Stavanger region has so much to offer as a holiday destination and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My visit to the exotic island of Flor & Fjaere was my favourite experience, it is out of this world - the most stunning gardens I’ve ever seen and an absolute sight to behold. The Lysefjord cruise was also breathtaking perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the Norwegian Petroleum Museum was absolutely fascinating - I could have spent all afternoon there!”
PACKAGED ITINERARY
Days 1 - 3 UK to Denmark via North Sea
We travel from the UK with an overnight North Sea crossing to Holland followed by overnight stops in Germany and Denmark.

Day 4 Stavanger via Hirtshals
This morning we drive to Hirtshals for our morning Fjordline ferry crossing to Norway. On arrival in Kristiansand we travel to our hotel in Stavanger.

Day 5 Stavanger Driver’s Day Off
This morning, we meet our guide at the hotel for a 2 hour walking tour of Stavanger with its charming old town, full of cobblestone streets and traditional white, wooden houses. We learn about the days of the herring and canning industry and how the city has evolved to become the oil capital it is today. There is free time for lunch and shopping before we enjoy a guided tour of the Petroleum Museum during which we watch a 3D movie and learn how Stavanger helped to make Norway one of Europe's strongest economies. We also discover the life of an oil rig man!

Day 6 Sogndalstrand & Flor & Fjaere
This morning, we travel to the unique picturepostcard harbour village of Sogndalstrand, where we enjoy a guided walk with tea/ coffee and homemade pastries. We take a detour back to Stavanger via the Iron Age Farm, a reconstructed farmstead on an original archaeological site. We see a demonstration of day to day life in the early Iron Age with a chance to try your hand at spinning and making flour, before enjoying some Viking snacks! We return to our hotel with time to freshen up before we take an evening stroll to the jetty to embark on a 20 minute boat trip along the fjord to Flor and Fjaere. We start with a tour through this enchanting island and exotic gardens and enjoy the peaceful tranquillity and sea views. We will then be greeted by our chef for the evening who will tempt us with many delights for our scrumptious buffet dinner - truly unforgettable.

Day 7 Lysefjord Cruise & Mountain Drive
Our morning starts with a drive to Lauvvik from where we enjoy a spectacular 2 hour cruise on the Lysefjord. The highlights include the famous Pulpit Rock, which stands 604m high along with the rugged Kjerag mountain scenery, dramatic rock formations and the incredible geology of this stunning glacial landscape. We arrive at Lysebotn and make our way to a local hotel for lunch. After lunch, we begin our spectacular scenic mountain drive back to Stavanger via Gloppedalsura and a short stop at Byrkjedalstunet, a former cheese dairy, which has been converted to a chandlery and restaurant.

Days 8 - 11 Departure
After breakfast, we begin our journey home, with an overnight in Denmark and Germany, arriving in Holland for our overnight North Sea crossing back to the UK.
