Our tour introduces some of northern Croatia’s most delightful Islands in Krk and Brijuni. We visit the beloved seaside resort of Opatija for a guided tour and coffee & cake at a Viennese-style coffee house. A visit to a wine estate means we enjoy one of this country’s growing exports too.
PACKAGED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 2 Mošćenička Draga Driver’s Day Off
We spend our first day in Croatia relaxing in Mošćenička Draga, either at the pool at our hotel or on the pebble beach close by. There are also many secluded spots along the coastal promenade, where one can enjoy the sea and sun on small natural beaches.
Day 3 Opatija
We spend today in Opatija on the Opatija Riviera, a pretty coastline of turquoise sea and pine-clad hills. We are met by our guide for a morning walking tour of this picturesque coastal town, renowned for its elegant charm and scenic beauty. Afterwards we visit the famous Café Strauss to sample the Viennese coffee-house atmosphere and sample their coffee & cake, before having the rest of the day at leisure to explore this fashionable town.
Day 4 Island of Krk & Wine Tasting
Today we are met by our local step-on guide (with walking elements) who will join us for the day. We make our way to the island of Krk, the largest island in the Adriatic, and visit Krk town, walking through the old town where we see the Frankopan Castle fortress – built between the 12th and 15th centuries and the old town square. We have free time to wander at leisure before we head to the charming small town of Vrbnik, famed locally for its wine Vrbnička žlahtina”. We visit a local wine estate for a tasting.
Day 5 Brijuni islands & Pula
This morning we head for the port of Fazana and enjoy the 20-minute boat journey to the remarkable Brijuni National Park comprising of 14 beautiful islands. During our visit we take a sightseeing tour on a land train. In the afternoon we visit Pula for time at leisure to explore. Centred around a magnificent Roman arena, there is plenty to occupy us in this lively waterfront city.
Day 6 Departure
After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
In the perfect location for a restful holiday, the Hotel Marina is close to the seafront and the long pebble beach, with the marina and town centre within easy reach. The hotel has a modern and airy feel to it and restaurants and bar are welcoming places for relaxation. There is also a café with a terrace with sea views. All rooms are tastefully decorated and all include TV, telephone, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and many have a French balcony. There is a Wellness & Spa offering various beauty treatments, a Finnish sauna and whirlpool as well as indoor and outdoor pools.
