Penzance The Best of the West

Cornwall has long been famous for its climate, glorious beaches and spectacular scenery, as well as pasties and pirates! Based in the old harbour port of Penzance, our tour includes visits to St. Ives, Falmouth, the beautiful Isles of Scilly and the Tolgus Tin Streaming Mill - you would be Scilly to miss it!
SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 St Ives & Penzance
We spend this morning at leisure in the picturesque fishing harbour of St Ives. Attractions include numerous galleries (including Tate St Ives), four fabulous beaches, a working harbour and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. After lunch, we spend the afternoon in Penzance – wander through the subtropical Morrab Gardens, visit the Egyptian House and Penlee House Museum or visit famous St Michael's Mount (walk at low tide or catch the ferry at high tide. There are steps to access the castle.)

Day 3 Isles of Scilly
This morning, we take the ferry from Penzance harbour to the uncrowded and unspoilt Isles of Scilly. We can relax and enjoy the stunning views and, if we are lucky, we may even be joined by a pod of playful dolphins. We visit Hugh Town, the capital of St. Mary’s, which despite being the largest island only covers an area of less than 2.5 square miles. Being the central hub of the islands, there are a number of excellent eateries, cluster of shops, galleries and a museum of island life to explore. We return to Penzance on the late afternoon ferry.

Day 4 Tolgus Mill & Falmouth
Today we experience a unique piece of Cornish heritage with a tour of the Tolgus Tin Streaming Mill, where we learn the process of tin streaming and how tin ore is smelted to create exquisite Cornish jewellery. We spend the afternoon in the thriving harbour town of Falmouth, whose attractions include the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, or we can enjoy a ferry trip to the charming harbour town of St Mawes, protected by the coastal fortress of St Mawes Castle.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
