Regal Kent & Royal Greenwich

Kent has been home to a remarkable number of kings, queens and famous leaders and on this tour we enter the regal and stately world of historical figures who have wielded unique power and influence far beyond the Kentish borders.
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Penshurst Place & Hever Castle
After a leisurely breakfast, we begin with a visit to the 14th century Penshurst Place, once owned by King Henry VIII. We have a guided tour of the house and enjoy lunch here before we head for nearby Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. We spend the afternoon exploring 125 acres of award winning gardens as well as the interior of this splendid 700 year old royal home, its maze, fascinating collection of Miniature Model Houses, boating lake and Japanese Tea House.

Day 3 Greenwich
This morning we visit the home of time, Greenwich. We have the option of visiting the Royal Observatory Greenwich, the historic sailing ship Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum (FOC) and the Queen’s House art gallery (FOC), all of which are within easy walking distance of each other. For the shoppers amongst us, there is also Greenwich Market to enjoy (Tue-Sun). Alternatively, we can opt for a circular cruise along the River Thames which will give us a fantastic riverside view of London’s most iconic buildings, including those at Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, the Shard and the
battleship HMS Belfast to name but a few. We disembark at Westminster Pier, overlooked by Big Ben, with time to explore before we return by boat to our coach at Greenwich.

Day 4 Denbies Wine Estate & Chartwell
Today we head for Denbies Wine Estate in neighbouring Surrey, one of the largest wine
producers in the UK, with 265 acres of vines. We enjoy an indoor winery tour before we are guided through a tasting of Denbies’ classic wine. We then visit the home of Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell. The house remains much the same as when this
influential family lived here with fascinating pictures, books and personal mementoes.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
