Somerset Splendour

The historic Best Western Swan Hotel in Wells is fabulously located in the very centre of England’s smallest city and it is from here that we experience the finest attractions in the area including Longleat, the historic city of Bath and medieval Wells.

Sue says…
“This hotel is amazing, the location outstanding and the staff sensational … I would highly recommend to any client.”

This holiday features parts of the Great West Way, a 125-mile route linking London and Bristol, where you'll find a mesmerising mix of picture postcard villages, rolling hills and historic sites.
Day 1 Arrival in Wells
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Longleat
Today we pay a visit to the extraordinary and unique Longleat estate, the first stately home to fully open its doors to the public back in 1949. After a tour of the fascinating house, we embark upon a safari and track down some of the park’s 1,000 animals - don’t forget to hide all your sandwiches!

Day 3 Wells - The Smallest City in England
After breakfast this morning, we will step outside our hotel and head for the Market Place where the award-winning Somerset Farmers’ Market (every Wednesday 9.00 am - 2.30 pm) will be in full swing. After browsing the market, we meet our guide outside our hotel for a walking tour of Wells to learn about the history of Wells Cathedral, the famous 14th Century astronomical clock, The Bishop’s Palace, the town crier and the remarkable Vicars’ Close. We spend the rest of our day exploring  at leisure.

Day 4 Bath
Today, we spend time in Bath where we visit the remains of one of the finest spas of the ancient world, The Roman Baths, before enjoying lunch in the Roman Baths Kitchen or Pump Room Restaurant. We can then explore stunning Bath Abbey, next door to the Baths, the Fashion Museum, housed in one of the finest Georgian buildings in Bath and the Assembly Rooms, before visiting the famous Royal Crescent, a magnificent sweep of 30 Georgian houses featured as a backdrop in countless films and TV dramas.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
