Springtime at Kew & Chiswick House

Chiswick House Camellias (Feb/Mar 2020)
Combine your visit to Kew with a visit to the glass houses of Chiswick House (just 2 miles from Kew) to view the 33 heritage camellias in a world-renowned collection. Brought by ship from China in the 18th century, exotic camellia plants were a luxury commodity. The Duke of Devonshire built a 300 foot glass house, one of the largest in the world at the time, to protect his collection of plants. Enjoy the riot of colour when the trees bloom in early spring, heralding the annual Camellia Show. Don’t miss out on a visit to Chiswick House – part of the English Heritage Collection. It was built around 1726 and is one of the earliest and most important Italian villa- style buildings in England.

Kew Orchids (Feb/Mar 2020)
At Kew, the Festival of Orchids highlights the most beautiful species from around the world. This annual event is enough to brighten any winter’s day and takes place in the recently restored Prince of Wales Conservatory. Further botanical delights await you in the tropical Palm House and the Temperance House.

This holiday is part of the Great West Way, a 125-mile route linking London to Bristol. It follows one of the first Great Roads commissioned by the Kings of England and showcases every day England and world-famous heritage, combining a mesmerising mix of picture postcard villages, rolling hills and historic cities.
