Summer is Heaven in North Devon

Golden sandy beaches, dramatic coastlines, iconic seaside views, rugged moors, verdant valleys and an abundance of natural beauty all await in the beautiful region of North Devon. Take in the beauty with a cream tea or an ice cream and you will have found pure heaven.

Mark says: “Summer and winter, the Durrant House Hotel continues to deliver excellent service that is totally suited to groups.”
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 RHS Garden Rosemoor & Bideford
This morning, we make our way to RHS Garden Rosemoor. Nestled in a Devon valley, Rosemoor blends formal and informal plantings to great effect. There are several gardens to explore including the stream and rock gully, hot garden, cottage garden and stone garden.

We will then head for the historic harbour town of Bideford, with its traffic-free lanes filled with quirky little shops, an historic indoor Pannier market and a farmers’ market, which is held every Tuesday and Saturday.

Day 3 Ilfracombe
We will spend today at leisure in the charming seaside resort of Illfracombe. Within easy walking distance are the fascinating Tunnels Beaches. Hand carved in the 1820s, the four tunnels provide a truly unique experience. Enjoy an ice cream on the beach, or a delicious lunch before taking a stroll along the promenade to discover the delights of Ilfracombe seafront.

Day 4 Arlington Court (NT) & Lynton & Lynmouth
This morning, we will visit the intriguing Regency house and gardens of Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum. The museum houses vehicles ranging from ornate, silver plated coaches to humble carts used to carry servants. After our visit, we will make our way to the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth. We will have the option of taking the Cliff Railway, the unique Victorian water powered funicular cliff lift (disabled access is limited) from Lynmouth to Lynton, perched 500 feet above!

Day 5 Departure
Today, we will begin our journey home.
