PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Weald & Downland Living Museum & Chichester
This morning we visit the unique Weald & Downland Living Museum, an open-air museum with a collection of over 50 original buildings spanning a period of 600 years. Site of the hugely popular BBC TV series ‘The Repair Shop’, in which the highly skilled craftspeople save and resurrect broken treasures, we spend the morning exploring this remarkable microcosm of South East English history in its authentic Wealden setting! Perhaps witness a Victorian smithy at work, cooking in a Tudor kitchen, a working watermill grinding flour and other workshop demonstrations. There is time to enjoy lunch in the lakeside tearoom before we head to Chichester with plenty of time to explore. Highlights include the magnificent cathedral and award-winning Novium Museum built over the remains of a Roman bathhouse.

Day 3 Brighton & Arundel Castle
We start our day in Brighton where we spend time at leisure visiting its famous attractions. In the afternoon, we visit Arundel Castle, set high on a hill commanding superb views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Famous not only for its finely preserved interior, fascinating furniture, tapestries and rare collection of paintings, the castle also has wonderful gardens – including a colourful rose garden, quirky Stumpery, kitchen gardens and architecturally brilliant Earl’s Garden – to explore.

Day 4 Canal Cruise & Parham House
We enjoy a delightful 90 minute cruise on the Wey and Arun Canal this morning,
cruising along the idyllic Loxwood Link section of the canal on the Surrey/West Sussex border, taking in the picturesque scenery along the way. In the afternoon, we visit Parham House and Gardens, one of the country’s finest Elizabethan houses, complete with a Great Hall and Long Gallery. Set in 875 acres in the South Downs, the house is home to many rare and precious collections of paintings, furniture, needlework and antiquities. The spectacular gardens feature pleasure grounds, a four acre walled garden, stunning herbaceous borders, a glasshouse, vegetable garden, orchard and a 1920’s Wendy House.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
