The Best of the Bavarian Alps

Our Packaged Itinerary offers you some of the best sights of the Bavarian Alps. Experience the spectacular Herrenchiemsee Palace, located in the middle of a lake, climb 6,000 ft to Hitler’s “Eagle’s Nest”, before finally heading over the border to spend a day in the home of Mozart, Salzburg!
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 Herrenchiemsee Palace
After breakfast we make our way to the shores of Lake Chiemsee where we take a 15 minute boat trip to Herreninsel, a small island on Lake Chiemsee. Here we will find the extravagant Herrenchiemsee Palace and Gardens. Here we enjoy a guided tour of both the palace and gardens. This palace was built on the instruction of King Ludwig of Bavaria and modelled on the Palace of Versailles.

Day 3 Berchtesgaden & Eagle’s Nest
This morning we travel to the mountain resort of Berchtesgaden and visit the location of Hitler’s “Eagle’s Nest” perched 6,000 ft on top of the Obersalzberg mountain. Since 1952, the building has been open to the public as a mountain top restaurant with a spectacular view.
Operator note: Due to its unusually high elevation, the Eagle’s Nest is accessed only by special mountain buses from Obersalzberg and is open from mid-May - October, dependent on weather conditions.

Day 4 Bad Reichenhall Driver's Day Off
Today we have time to explore Bad Reichenhall which has been a spa town since the early 19th century. Why not take the world’s oldest twin-cable gondola for a spectacular trip up to the top of the Predigtstuhl Mountain at a height of 5,200ft!? Alternatively, we can take advantage of the hotel’s beautiful landscaped park and spa facilities.

Day 5 Salzburg
We will spend today in one of Austria’s most famous cities, Salzburg. Known as the home of Mozart, this ancient city’s old town is dominated by baroque towers and monumental architecture. The old town is a maze of charming pedestrian alleyways with many famous and historic landmarks: Mozart’s Birthplace, the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the beautiful Mirabell Gardens to name just a few. To enable us to get our bearings we have a 2 hour guided walking tour, after which we can explore the city at our leisure.

Day 6 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
