With visits to the beautiful Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, the historic city of Chester and a canal boat trip on the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct canal, the highest canal aqueduct ever built, our tour explores the highlights of this area.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Chester
Today, we explore the historic city of Chester which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old cathedral and 700 year old unique shopping rows. We enjoy a 30 minute river cruise on the River Dee before visiting The High Cross at midday to hear the Town Crier’s public proclamations (May - Aug). We have free time for lunch in Chester Cathedral’s 13th century refectory, where monks used to dine many centuries ago, before taking a self-guided tour of the medieval cathedral and discovering the extraordinary story behind its imposing walls.

Day 3 Llandudno
Today, we enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the ‘Queen of Welsh’ resorts, Llandudno, with its wonderful beaches and lovely wide promenade. Llandudno is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing day, with its beautiful Victorian architecture and Edwardian elegance, pier and excellent selection of high street stores and attractions. Take a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tramway which climbs 1500m and visit the exhibition at the Halfway Station. From the summit, there are outstanding views across Anglesey and the peaks of Snowdonia.

Day 4 Llangollen & Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
We have free time this morning to spend at leisure in Llangollen - stroll along the Victoria Promenade, sit in the Riverside Park or watch the river tumble down beneath the bridge. In the afternoon, we enjoy a fantastic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct canal boat trip on a motorized boat, taking us along a five mile stretch of the Llangollen Canal which runs along the picturesque Dee Valley. Our 2 hour trip includes a crossing of the world famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct also known as the ‘Stream in the Sky’.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
