Itinerary

PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway & Windermere Cruises
We spend today in the Lake District. First, we make our way to Haverthwaite Station from where we enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway to the south of Lake Windermere and Lakeside pier. At Lakeside, we board our boat to enjoy a 40 minute cruise around the south of Lake Windermere. Arriving at Bowness, making the most of our tea/coffee voucher to refresh ourselves before a short walk takes us into the heart of this Victorian town, popular with tourists since the mid-1800s and briming with art galleries, antique shops, independent gift shops, and local artisan food producers.

Day 3 Dalemain House & Gardens & Ullswater Cruise
This morning we head to Dalemain House & Gardens for a tour of the mansion, learning all about its past and the Dalemain World Marmalade Awards! We have time to explore the beautiful gardens at leisure – allowing time to visit the shop and perhaps pick up a jar or two of the wide choice of marmalades – before enjoying a cream tea. On leaving, we are given a memento of our visit. We then make our way to Pooley Bridge for an hour cruise on the Ullswater Steamers to Glenridding; we can sit back after our morning of discovery and lunch and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the Lakes.

Day 4 Scenic Lake District & Keswick
We enjoy a scenic drive through the picturesque Lake District today, travelling north via Windermere then Ambleside, the head of England’s largest natural lake where we can spot the pretty Bridge House as we pass. We then journey through the picture-postcard village of Grasmere – named after its adjacent lake and home to Wordsworth when he wrote his famous poem, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, inspired by the flowers and scenery of the Lake District – and finally onto Keswick. We have ‘My Time’ exploring this lovely market town nestled between the majestic Skiddaw mountain and the serene lake of Derwentwater, with plenty of shops, restaurants and museums to browse. We can always finish our tour with an afternoon tea at Bassenthwaite Lake Station – ask your Account Manager for details.

Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
