Day 1 Arrival in Shrigley
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 Cheshire: Lyme Park (NT) 18 mile round trip
This morning we visit Lyme Park, the film location for ‘Pemberley’, the BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, which has made it one of the most famous country-house images in England. On the edge of the Peak District, nestling within sweeping moorland, Lyme Park is a magnificent estate. We will discover a colourful family history, from rescuing the Black Prince and sailing into exile with the Duke of Windsor, to
the writing of the hit series Upstairs Downstairs. We return to our hotel after lunch where we will have free time to relax and enjoy the facilities or take a stroll in the hotel’s fabulous grounds.

(To make this a full excursion day a visit can be arranged to nearby Quarry Bank Mill in the afternoon)

Day 3 Derbyshire: Haddon Hall, Bakewell & Buxton 76 mile round trip
Today, we travel over the spectacular Snake Pass and drive along Ladybower Reservoir where we will enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. This area was made famous during World War II when it was used by the Dambusters to practice low level flying techniques. We continue to our first location, Haddon Hall. Set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, Haddon Hall is recognised as one of the most romantic houses in Britain. The house and grounds have played host to a number of films including “Jane Eyre”, “Elizabeth”, “Pride & Prejudice” and “The Other Boleyn Girl”. We will then make a lunch stop in the picturesque market town of Bakewell. Our final stop is in the market town of Buxton which has a number of claims to fame; as well as being the capital of the High Peak, it is also, at over 1,000ft above sea level, the highest town of its size in England. Buxton has been a popular holiday resort for centuries due to being
blessed with stunning scenery, magnificent architecture, a wealth of shops, a thriving arts scene and its world famous spa water.

Day 4 Staffordshire: World of Wedgwood & Trentham Gardens 64 mile round trip
This morning we travel to the World of Wedgwood, a unique visitor experience which celebrates the very best of British industrial design and heritage. We have the option of taking a factory tour to learn about all aspects of production and techniques. We can trace 250 years of design and production in the museum and discover the story of Josiah Wedgwood and his lasting influence on industry, society and local infrastructure, and of course there will be time to make a purchase in the flagship store or Factory Outlet before we leave. Following our visit here, we will spend a peaceful afternoon in the nearby Trentham Gardens. We can enjoy the splendour of the contemporary Italian Garden, meander through the Floral Labyrinth and Rivers of Grass or take a woodland walk around the Capability Brown designed mile-long lake and see if we can spot any of the enchanting fairies or giant dandelion sculptures.

Day 5 Departure
We depart after breakfast and begin our return journey home.
