Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel before dinner.

Day 2 St Wolfgang Driver’s Day Off
Today, we will explore St Wolfgang. A member of the hotel team takes us on a short guided walk before escorting us to the station for our return journey on the steepest cog railway in Austria, the Schafberg Mountain Railway. In 40 minutes, the steam cog railway climbs 1,783 metres! On a clear day, we will be treated to a 360 degree panoramic view of the sparkling lakes of Wolfgangsee, in Austria and Chiemsee in Germany, with soaring mountains majestically framing the jaw-dropping vision before us!

Day 3 Salzburg
Our journey today takes us to the home of 'The Sound of Music' and regional capital, Salzburg. The old town is a maze of charming pedestrian alleyways with many famous and historic landmarks. To enable us to get our bearings we enjoy a 2 hour guided walking tour, after which we can explore the city at our leisure.

Day 4 Bad Ischl & Hallstatt
Today we will visit the delightful spa town of Bad Ischl where the Emperors of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy spent their summers. We will begin by exploring the Kaiservilla with a guided tour. We will then have additional time to explore before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hallstatt. We will take the cable car up to the summit to experience the amazing views of the surrounding area.

Day 5 Lake District Scenic Drive
Today will include a scenic drive of the Salzkammergut, known as the Austrian Lake District. Our journey takes us via Ebensee and along the impressive fjord-like Lake Traunsee to Gmunden. We then continue on towards the Mondsee, one of the most unspoilt lakes in the region where we will stop to see one of the most well-known filming locations for the ‘Sound of Music’. We then travel to the traffic-free village of St. Gilgen, connected to Mozart’s family, before making our way back to St Wolfgang.

Day 6 Departure
After breakfast we begin our journey home.
