Based within the village of Oberammergau, this tour includes some of the most magical locations the Alps have to offer. Highlights include Hohenschwangau Castle and the train and cable car to the summit of the Zugspitze, plus a tour of the world-famous Passion Play Theatre.
PACKAGED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
Day 2 Oberammergau & Ettal Abbey OR Free Time in Oberammergau
This morning, we enjoy free time in Oberammergau with a 1-hour guided tour of the famous Passion Play Theatre. This afternoon, we visit Ettal Abbey to see its mighty Basilica & the magnificent Rococo vestry.
OR free time at the hotel if driver’s day off is required.
Day 3 Garmisch and the Zugspitze
Today we visit Germany’s highest peak, Zugspitze. We stop at Zugspitze plateau for lunch, then take the Gletscherbahn cable car to the top station. Next we take the cable car down to Lake Eibsee & return to Garmisch for some free time.
Day 4 Bavarian Castles and Carriages
Today we enjoy a 1-hour guided tour of Schwangau village by horse and carriage. Then we have free time in Hohenschwangau followed by a visit to Hohenschwangau Castle.
NB: group entrance to Hohenschwangau Castle in winter is not confirmed. If it is not possible, free time will be spent in the nearby town of Fussen.
