PACKAGED ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 2 Alsace Wine Route
Today we enjoy the wonderful vineyards and mountain scenery of the Alsace Wine Route with stops in its prettiest towns. Our first stop is the village of Gertwiller for a browse in a traditional gingerbread shop. Next, we visit the region’s oldest and most picturesque medieval town, Ribeauvillé with free time to enjoy lunch. Afterwards, we will visit a local vineyard to try the delicious Alsace wines and learn more with a guided cellar tour. With so many beautiful villages to visit, we have free time to explore one more, charming Riquewihr.
Day 3 Strasbourg
We spend the day in the picturesque and historic port city of Strasbourg, the capital of the region and centre of the European Parliament. Set in a beautiful setting on the River Rhine, this morning, we take a circular river cruise from downtown to the European Parliament through to the imperial district of Neustadt. Afterwards, we have lunch and the rest of the afternoon at leisure. With German and French influences, explore La Petite France as well as the Gothic Cathedrale Notre-Dame with its famous astronomical clock.
(Please note that central Strasbourg is best accessed via included public transport from the coach park – so this day is less suited for those with reduced mobility).
Day 4 Colmar & Mont Saint-Odile
This morning, we travel to the pretty town of Colmar for a guided tourist train journey which takes us all around the pretty half-timbered houses and canals before time at leisure for lunch. Afterwards, we drive to the spectacular Vosges Mountains and the peak of Mont Saint-Odile for incredible views of the Plain of Alsace and a walk around the historical site of Hohenburg Abbey. We will then return to our hotel with a scenic drive along the way.
