Day 1 Arrival
We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 2 Boulevard Land Train, Museum Beelden and a walking tour in The Hague
This morning, we board the Boulevard Train to take us to the Beelden aan Zee Museum. Along the way we can enjoy views of the famous Seinpostduin – known from the painting ‘Panorama Mesdag’ – the harbours and the old village of Scheveningen. The museum focuses exclusively on contemporary sculpture with many worldwide sculptors included. After free time for lunch, we join a local guide for a gentle 2-hour walking tour of The Hague.
Day 3 Mauritshuis Museum and Escher in the Palace
This morning, we have an artistic treat, a visit to the Mauritshuis Museum for a self-guided tour to see the best of Dutch masterpieces from the Golden Age, such as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring & The Anatomy Lesson by Tulp by Rembrandt. In the afternoon, we take a short leisurely stroll to Escher in the Palace for a self-guided tour to discover the charming 18th-century palace dedicated to the works of M.C. Escher, the famous Dutch graphic artist known for creating mind-bending illusions. NB: Escher in the Palace is a listed building, which means they have limited facilities and accessing the Palace is by several steps.
Day 4 Gouda Cheese Experience & The Syrup Waffle Experience & Gouda
This morning, we embark on a fun interactive journey through the history of cheese and discover what makes the Gouda Cheese Experience truly unique. We follow this magnificent experience with a Syrup Waffle Experience to learn more about the origin of the Kamphuisen syrup waffle and see how it is made in the factory. The best part is enjoying a Kamphuisen syrup waffle straight from the oven. The remainder of the day is at your own leisure to explore Gouda.
Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
