Itinerary

PACKAGED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival
We arrive in the Trossachs at our first hotel, The Winnock, in time for dinner.

Day 2 Loch Katrine Cruise & Rosebank Distillery
This morning, we enjoy a relaxing 2-hour cruise on Loch Katrine. Departing from the Trossachs Pier, we sit back and admire the beauty of the area, taking in views of Ben Venue Mountain, Ellen’s Isle and Queen Victoria’s loch-side Royal Cottage. This afternoon, we will be savouring a taste of Scotland with a guided tour and whisky tastings at Rosebank Distillery on the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal in Falkirk. Dating back to 1840, this historic distillery is famous for its much-loved lowland single malt whisky.

Day 3 Inveraray Castle
Today we travel through the Trossachs, stopping at Inveraray Castle & Gardens for a guided tour. As the ancestral seat of the Chief of Clan Campbell, this is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes with plenty to see over three floors. Highlights include the Clan Room, which offers an insight into the fascinating history of Clan Campbell; the French influenced Tapestry Drawing Room with original Beauvais tapestries; and the Victorian Room, which serves as a tribute to the marriage between HRH Princess Louise – daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert – and the Marquess of Lorne. This afternoon we continue our travels to Fort William and check into our hotel.

Day 4 Jacobite Steam Train
This morning, we embark on a journey described as the greatest railway journey in the world, on the famous Jacobite Steam Train, which will take us on an 84 mile return journey from Fort William to Mallaig. Along the way, we encounter spectacular scenery and travel across the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct’s magnificent 21 arches, featured in many films. Special booking terms are required for the Jacobite Steam Train which includes a non-refundable deposit. It is possible to book a Scotrail service that uses the same route as the Jacobite without the deposit conditions. Please speak to the sales team for details.

Day 5 Loch Ness
Today we travel to Loch Ness and take a scenic drive along the west shore, pausing at the recently renewed Loch Ness Centre for a unique tour that allows us to become part of the legend and unearth the history, stories and science about this famous Loch and its mythical inhabitant. Afterwards we make our way to our next stop in Pitlochry.

Day 6 Pitlochry Driver’s Day Off
We can relax in our hotel and enjoy exploring the picture-postcard town of Pitlochry today. Popular for over 150 years as a holiday destination, the town boasts Queen Victoria as one of its original visitors. Enjoy a stroll along Main Street in this charming resort with its many attractive shops, bars and tearooms.

Day 7 Departure
After breakfast, we make our way home.
